Who we are

A home where every child belongs

Since opening our doors on 6 June 2016, New Hope Orphanage Centre has been a children’s home in Kahama, Shinyanga Region, Tanzania. Today we care for 145 children — children who have lost their parents or whose families can no longer look after them — giving them a safe place to sleep, food on the table, and the chance to go to school.

New Hope was founded by Suleiman Ndikumana Nkanda, who grew up facing hardship on the streets and in the community himself. He turned the challenges of his past into a place where other children could find care, protection, love and hope.

More than a shelter, New Hope is a family. Our children learn, play, grow food together, celebrate together and look out for one another. Our dream is simple: giving every child a hopeful future.
